My Pleasure

英語の言い回しに、My Pleasure.というものがあります。
例えば何かをしてもらったときに、
Thank you!（ありがとう）
と言うと、相手から
My Pleasure.（どういたしまして）
といった具合に使われますね。
There is an English phrase, "My Pleasure".
For example, when getting something good, you say
"Thank you"
After that , the person who gives you something,
"My Pleasure".


"My Pleasure."
直訳すると「私の喜び」ですが、
すでに慣用句として元来の意味をあまり意識せず使われているのかもしれませんが、
日本でも「情けは人のためならず（→自分のため）」という言葉があり、
それに通じるようなものがあるのかもしれませんね。
"My Pleasure"
The original meaning is pleasure of mine.
I assume that it may be used apart from original meanings, not conscious.
But it used like a Japanese idiom "NASAKE HA HITONO TAME NARAZU” The good behavior of you is not for other people.
I guess that there are very similar phrases.

先日、石垣島で川平ファームさんから川平湾への道を歩いていたときのこと。
前からやってきた車が目の前で止まって、
窓が下がったかと思えば、なんと運転手は西洋の方。
道案内でも求められているのかと思えば、
「雨の中歩くの大変だろうから、乗って行っていいよ！」
（英語でしたが・・）と驚きのご提案。
しかし、僕はまだ川平湾を見ていなかったので、
「ありがとう、でも歩きます」と答えると
返ってきたお答えが
"My Pleasure"
でした。
The other day in the Ishigaki Island,
When I walked from KABIRA DARM to KABIRA-WAN bay in the rain, I found the car stopping in front of me.
The car window opened and I saw the Western guy driver.
I guess that the driver wanted to get some road guidance, but he said that if I wanted to ride his car, he could drive!
I felt very happy but I wanted to see the KABIRA-WAN located opposite direction of his car, then I replied "Thank you but I want to walk along ahead."
The reply from him was "My Pleasure".

石垣島の素晴らしい景色は、気持ちの良い親切を生むのだなぁ、
と感心しながらさらに数分歩くと、川平湾に到着。
そこでも、親切な日本人の方が、写真を撮りましょうか？と
ご提案いただきました。
一旦は丁重にお断りしたものの、せっかくの機会だからと、
撮ってもらいました。
I felt that the wonderful scene makes people kinder.
Finally, I got KABIRA-WAN bay after walking few minutes.
I also encountered a kind Japanese man, he took me the picture.
I once refused his offer but I got his suggestion.

うーーん、綺麗に撮っていただけてついつい嬉しくなってしまいました。

Wow, I was surprised this wonderful picture.

照れくさかったり、ついつい面倒だったり、偽善っぽく感じたりで
「〜してあげたいな」と思っても行動に移してこなかったのですが、
今回のこの出来事で、僕もできる限り人に喜ばれることをしよう、
誰のためでもなく、自分のために・・・
Because I felt some awkward or trouble, hypocritical, I didn't do not so many times for other people.
But I thought that I was willing to do something for other people, that's MY PLEASURE.

そう思って、その後同じように一人で写真を撮って欲しそうにされている方に声をかけたり、
電車の中でご年配の方に席をお譲りしたりしてみました。
みなさん、気持ちのよい笑顔を返していただいて、
何よりも自分が嬉しかったですね。
After that, I took the photo of the person who traveled alone or passed my seat for elder person on the train.
I got wonderful smiles and I felt very happy.

そんなことを重ねたのが原因、と言うわけではないのでしょうが、
なんと大阪に帰ってきたら、壊れて画面の映らなくなっていたパソコンが
何もなかったかのように治ってました。
やはり、自分のためにも良かったようです。
It's not from these, but I found wonderful after returning Osaka.
My personal computer was mended as if there was no problem!
It was also for MY PLEASURE.

日頃ついつい余裕がなくて、せっかちに、いらいらとすることも多いのですが、
少し視点を変えて、おだやかに過ごしていくのも大事だなぁと
気づいた今夏の沖縄の旅でした。
I feel some hasty or irritating on ordinary busy days.
But I found, in the Okinawa trip, the important thing that I have to change the stand of view, getting comfortable and relaxed mind.
